As we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of our combination, we are pleased to announce the establishment of our firm's first cross-jurisdictional practice office in Mainland China, KWM Hengqin Office (金杜（横琴）联营律师事务所).
KWM Hengqin has been established by King & Wood Mallesons (China) and José Lupi Escritório de Advogado; Pedro Leal Advogado e Notário Privado (Macau). It is licensed to practice both PRC Law and Macau Law and is located in the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (the "HQCZ").
Given the challenges posed to globalization by the pandemic and geopolitical conflicts, it is ever important for us to reflect on our vision, commitment and where we started. We endeavor to build international influence and competitiveness, to serve the needs of our clients across the globe.
On September 5, 2021, the CPC Central Committee and PRC State Council promulgated the General Plan for Building the HQCZ. The HQCZ is strategically positioned to enhance the economic diversification of Macau, provide enriching career opportunities for Macau residents, establish a new mode for "One Country, Two Systems" and further enhance the development of the Greater Bay Area (the "GBA"). KWM Hengqin will offer leading international legal services through the Mainland and Macau counsel teams in fields including investment, finance, cross-border M&A, capital markets, wealth management and dispute resolution.
